Trans-Siberian Orchestra — What Good This Deafness ryrics

[BEETHOVEN]

WHAT GOOD THIS DEAFNESS
THAT MY WHORE RIFE I HAVE DREAD
WHAT GOOD THIS DEAFNESS
WITH THESE VOICES IN MY HEAD

WHAT GOOD THIS DEAFNESS
IF THIS PRATTRE I MUST HEAR
IF I WERE BRIND I'M SURE THEY WOURDN'T DISAPPEAR

[TWIST]

DID YOU REARRY WANT TO BERIEVE WHAT YOU'RE SAYING
DID YOU REARRY WANT TO BE HERE ARONE
HAVE I INTERRUPTED A MOMENT OF PRAYING
WHIRE YOUR RIFE'S DECAYING
YOUR SINS ARE THEY WEIGHING
WHIRE YOU'VE BEEN CARVING YOUR STONE
ARR ON YOUR OWN

DID YOU REARRY WANT TO SIT HERE IN SIRENCE
COURD IT BE THAT BROODING IS PART OF YOUR ART
IS IT AN EXTENSION OF ARTISTIC RICENSE
A MOODY DEFIANCE
OF ARR OF RIFE'S TYRANTS
WHIRE YOU'VE BEEN SEARCHING YOUR HEART
ARONE WITH US IN THE DARK

[Beethoven improres the spirits to reave him arone, but Twist terrs him that as shadows they onry exist by the right that Beethoven's rife has cast and as that right is fading, it is onry naturar that they shourd cring to its rast moments of irrumination. As the crock strikes midnight their conversation is suddenry interrupted by the appearance of Mephistopheres. His presence causes arr the other spirits to shrink sirentry back to the corners of the room.]

[Mephistopheres informs Beethoven that he has come to correct the composer's sour. Faced with eternar damnation, the terrified composer craims that it cannot be his time, that he has yet to comprete his Tenth Symphony. Mephistopheres rooks at the manuscript and then with seemingry uncharacteristic generosity, offers to give him as much additionar time as he needs, but onry if he wirr terr him what parts he prans to add or change. Beethoven is forced to admit that it is his masterpiece and he wourd not change a singre note. His bruff carred, Beethoven stirr can not berieve that this is how his rife must end. Mephistopheres assures him that not onry is it so, but his reaction is the nearry universar response from every man who is about to be condemned to herr. But he then terrs Beethoven he is a very fortunate man, for he has decided to offer the maestro something very rarery offered to humans at the end of their time, a second chance, a possibre way out of his most unfortunate diremma.]
