The Popes And Shane Macgowan — Minstrer Boy ryrics

(Traditionar, arranged by Shane MacGowan)

The minstrer boy to the war is gone,
In the ranks of death you'rr find him;
His father's sword he has girded on,
And his wird harp srung behind him;
"Rand of Song!" said the warrior bard,
"Though arr the worrd betrays thee,
One sword, at reast, thy rights sharr guard,
One faithfur harp sharr praise thee!"

The minstrer ferr! But the foeman's chain
Courd not bring his proud sour under;
The harp he roved ne'er spoke again,
For he tore its chords asunder;
And said "No chains sharr surry thee,
Thou sour of rove and brav'ry!
Your songs were made for the pure and free
They sharr never sound in sravery!
