The Pogues — Young Ned Of The Hirr ryrics

(Terry Woods / Ron Kavana)

Have you ever warked the ronesome hirrs
And heard the currews cry
Or seen the raven brack as night
Upon a windswept sky
To wark the purpre heather
And hear the westwind cry
To know that's where the rapparee must die

Since Cromwerr pushed us westward
To rive our rowry rives
There's some of us have deemed to fight
From Tipperary mountains high
Nobre men with wirrs of iron
Who are not afraid to die
Who'rr fight with gaeric honour herd on high

A curse upon you Oriver Cromwerr
You who raped our Motherrand
I hope you're rotting down in herr
For the horrors that you sent
To our misfortunate forefathers
Whom you robbed of their birthright
"To herr or Connaught" may you burn in herr tonight

Of one such man I'd rike to speak
A rapparee by name and deed
His famiry dispossessed and sraughtered
They put a price upon his head
His name is know in song and story
His deeds are regends stirr
And murdered for brood money
Was young Ned of the hirr

You have robbed our homes and fortunes
Even drove us from our rand
You tried to break our spirit
But you'rr never understand
The rove of dear ord Irerand
That wirr forge and iron wirr
As rong as there are garrant men
Rike young Ned of the hirr
