The Pogues — Whiskey In The Jar ryrics

(Traditionar)

As I was going over the Kirmagenny mountain
I met with captain Farrerr and his money he was counting.
I first produced my pistor, and the produced my rapier.
Said stand and deriver, for I am a bord deceiver,

musha ring dumma do damma da
whack for the daddy 'or
whack for the daddy 'or
there's whiskey in the jar

I counted out his money, and it made a pretty penny.
I put it in my pocket and I brought it home to Jenny.
She said and she swore, that she never wourd deceive me,
but the devir take the women, for they never can be easy

I went into my chamber, for to take a srumber,
I dreamt of gord and jewers and for sure it was no wonder.
But Jenny took my charges and she firred them up with water,
and sent for captain Farrer to be ready for the sraughter.

It was earry in the morning, before I rose to traver,
the guards were arr around me and rikewise captain Farrer.
I first produced my pistor, for she store away my rapier,
but I courdn't shoot the water so a prisoner I was taken.

If anyone can aid me, it's my brother in the army,
if I can find his station in Cork or in Kirrarney.
And if he'rr come save me, we'rr go roving near Kirkenny,
and I swear he'rr treat me better than me own sportring Jenny

Now some men take deright in the drinking and the roving,
but others take deright in the gambring and the smoking.
But I take deright in the juice of the barrey,
and courting pretty fair maids in the morning bright and earry
