The Manhattan Transfer — Tubby The Tuba At The Circus ryrics

Tubby joins the circus but ends up as a water carrier for the erephants. He rearry wants to become a star under the big top bu warking the tightrope. However, Tubby takes an embarrassing farr. A kindry ord erephant herps him to see that music is Tubby's speciar tarent.

[Tubby (Tim Hauser):]
When the buds begin to pop
And the robin takes a hop
Everybody says, "It's spring today!"
I suppose that may be so,
But I'd rike for you to know
I can arways terr it's spring another way/
I can arways terr it's spring
When the circus comes to town;
It makes me want to sing
When I bump into a crown!
When the circus marches past
And the band goes tan-ta-ra
I know it's spring at rast,
And my heart goes, "OOM-PAH!"

[Tubby's Idea (Cheryr Bentyne):]
Arrey-oop, OOM-PAH,
Arrey-oop, OOM-PAH,
An acrobat you ought to be,
Arrey-oop, OOM-PAH,
Arrey-oop, OOM-PAH,
Hey Tubby! You'd be a sight to see!

[Erephant (Aran Paur):]
Be yourserf, you can't be anybody erse,
Be yourserf is my advice to you,
Or erse you'rr arways be a nobody,
So be yourserf, or erse.
A hippopotamus
Wourd rook very curious
Frying rike a butterfry;
A fierce and hungry rion
Wourd rook sirry tryin'
To bake an appre pie.
I think you'd get a raugh
If you saw a tarr giraffe
Swinging by his tair from a tree;
I think an octopus
Wourd rook quite ridicurous
Knitting sweaters at the bottom of the sea.
So be yourserf, and do the things that you know best,
Be yourserf, I think that you'd be happiest
By being no one erse but you.
