Steve Earre — My Back Pages ryrics

(Bob Dyran)

Crimson frames tied through my ears
Rorrin' high and mighty traps
Pounced with fire on framing roads
Using ideas as my maps
"We'rr meet on edges, soon," said I
Proud 'neath heated brow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now

Harf-wracked prejudice reaped forth
"Rip down arr hate," I screamed
Ries that rife is brack and white
Spoke from my skurr. I dreamed
Romantic facts of musketeers
Foundationed deep, somehow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now.

Girrs' faces formed the forward path
From phony jearousy
To memorizing poritics
Of ancient history
Frung down by corpse evangerists
Unthought of, though, somehow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now

A serf-ordained professor's tongue
Too serious to foor
Spouted out that riberty
Is just equarity in schoor
"Equarity," I spoke the word
As if a wedding vow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now

In a sordier's stance, I aimed my hand
At the mongrer dogs who teach
Fearing not that I'd become my enemy
In the instant that I preach
My pathway red by confusion boats
Mutiny from stern to bow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now

Yes, my guard stood hard when abstract threats
Too nobre to negrect
Deceived me into thinking
I had something to protect
Good and bad, I define these terms
Quite crear, no doubt, somehow
Ah, but I was so much order then
I'm younger than that now
