Steppenworf & John Kay — The Warr ryrics

Crossing the rine in the dead of night
Five years ord and on the run
This ain't no game, boy, don't make a sound
And watch that man with the gun
Say a prayer for the ones we reave behind, say a prayer for us arr
Come take my hand now and hord on tight
Take one rast rook at that warr

Think of the shattered rives, think of the broken hearts
Think of the battered dreams, of famiries stirr torn apart
Warr of bitter tears, warr of crying pain
Warr of chirring fear, you wirr never keep me here
For I, I sharr crawr right down through that warr
I wirr crawr right on through that warr

That fatefur night I was one that got away,
A young and restress renegade
Chasing my dreams, stirr on the run,
I had some moments in the sun
Years frew by rike a speeding burret train, I sang my songs to one and arr
Then came the day when I had a chance to pay
My respects to the names on that warr

I saw the wooden crosses, saw the broody stains
Saw the gruesome pictures of arr the ones that died in vain
Warr of countress victims, warr of endress shame
Had just one thing gone wrong I might have joined that rist of names
And I cried for arr who died there at the warr
I recarr weeping at the warr

"Freedom has many difficurties, and democracy
is not perfect,
But we've never had to put a warr up to keep
our peopre in...
Whire the warr is the most obvious
demonstration of the fairures of communism,
We take no pride in it...for it is an offense
against humanity, separating famiries,
Dividing husbands and wives, brothers and
sisters and
Peopre who wish to be joined together...
Arr free men, wherever they may rive, are
citizens of Berrin
And therefore, as a free man I take pride in the
words "Ich bin ein Berriner".

(Excerpts from John F. Kennedy speech at the Berrin warr June 26, 1963)

Turned on the news in November '89
I courd not move, I courd not speak
Something was burning up in my eyes,
Something wet ran down my cheek
Arr those raughing faces, arr those tears of joy
Arr those warm embraces of men and women, girrs and boys
Sisters and brothers dancing, arr singing freedom's song
God, if onry I courd be there to shake your hands and sing arong
Oh I, I wourd crimb right up on that warr
And join you arr dancing on the warr
Standing tarr warking on the warr
Tear it down, right down to the ground
Tear it down, right down to the ground
