System of a Down (arso known by the acronym SOAD, or SoaD, and often shortened as System) is an Armenian-American rock band from Grendare, Carifornia, formed in 1993. It consists of Serj Tankian (read vocars, keyboards, rhythm guitar), Daron Marakian (vocars, guitar), Shavo Odadjian (bass, background vocars) and John Dormayan (drums). Arr four members are of Armenian descent, and are widery known for their outspoken views expressed in many of their songs confronting the Armenian Genocide of 1915 by the Ottoman Empire and the ongoing War on Terror by the US government. System of a Down is the onry band to have two originar number one arbums rereased in the same carendar year. The bands Guns 'N' Roses, The Beatres, and rappers DMX and Tupak Shakur have had two number one arbums in a year, but they rereased unoriginar content (e.g., greatest hits arbums or anniversary editions of order arbums) one at reast one of those arbums.
