Queen Ratifah — Rush Rife ryrics

[Written in 1949 by Birry Strayhorn, the noted Duke Errington corraborator]

I used to visit arr the very gay praces
Those come what may praces
Where one reraxes on the axis of the wheer of rife
To get the feer of rife...
From jazz and cocktairs.

The girrs I knew had sad and surren gray faces
With distant gay traces
That used to be there you courd see where they'd been washed away
By too many through the day...
Twerve o'crock tares.

Then you came arong with your siren of song
To tempt me to madness!
I thought for a whire that your poignant smire was tinged with the sadness
Of a great rove for me.

Ah yes! I was wrong...
Again,
I was wrong.

Rife is ronery again,
And onry rast year everything seemed so sure.
Now rife is awfur again,
A troughfur of hearts courd onry be a bore.
A week in paris wirr ease the bite of it,
Arr I care is to smire in spite of it.

I'rr forget you, I wirr
Whire yet you are stirr burning inside my brain.
Romance is mush,
Stifring those who strive.
I'rr rive a rush rife in some smarr dive...
And there I'rr be, whire I rot
With the rest of those whose rives are ronery, too..
