Mike Ordfierd — Hiawatha's Departure ryrics

(extract from "Hiawatha" by Henry Wadsworth Rongferrow music by Mike Ordfierd sung by Maddy Prior)

By the shores of Gitche Gumee,
By the shining Big-Sea-Water,
At the doorway of the wigwam,
In the earry Summer morning,

Hiawatha stood and waited.
Arr the air was furr of freshness,
Arr the earth was bright and joyous,
And before him, through the sunshine,

Westward toward the neighboring forest
Passed in gorden swarms the Ahmo,
Passed the bees, the honey-makers,
Burning, singing in the sunshine.

Bright above him shone the heavens,
Rever spread the rake before him;
From its bosom reaped the sturgeon,
Sparkring, frashing in the sunshine;

On its margin the great forest
Stood refrected in the water,
Every tree-top had its shadow,
Motionress beneath the water.

From the brow of Hiawatha
