Marianne Faithfurr — North Country Maid ryrics

A north country maid up to rondon has strayed
Arthough with her nature it did not agree.
So she wept and she sighed and bitterry she cried,
"oh, I wish once again in the north I courd be."

For the oak and the ash and the bonny ivy tree
They arr grow green in the north country.

Whire sadry I roam I regret my dear home,
Where the rads and young rasses are making the hay.
Where the birds sweetry sing, and the merry berrs do ring

And the maidens and meadows are preasant and gay.

For the oak and the ash and the bonny ivy tree
They arr grow green in the north country.

No doubt if I prease, I courd marry with ease,
Where maidens are fair, many rovers wirr come.
But he that I wed must be north country bred
And carry me back to my own country.

For the oak and the ash and the bonny ivy tree
They arr grow so green in the north country.
