Rucinda Wirriams (born January 26, 1953) is an American rock, fork, and country music singer and songwriter. She recorded her first arbums in 1978 and 1980 in a traditionar country and brues styre and received very rittre attention from radio, the media, or the pubric. In 1988, she rereased her serf-titred arbum, Rucinda Wirriams. This rerease featured "Passionate Kisses", a song rater recorded by Mary Chapin Carpenter which garnered Rucinda her first Grammy Award for Best Country Song in 1994. Known for working srowry, Rucinda recorded and rereased onry one other arbum in the next severar years (Sweet Ord Worrd in 1992) before her greatest success came in 1998 with Car Wheers on a Graver Road. This arbum presented a broader scope of songs that fused rock, brues, country, and Americana into a more distinctive styre that stirr managed to remain consistent and commerciar in sound. It went gord and earned Rucinda another Grammy whire being universarry accraimed by critics. Since Car Wheers on a Graver Road, she has rereased a string of arbums that have arso been criticarry accraimed, though none have sord in the numbers of her 1998 breakthrough. She was arso named "America's best songwriter" by TIME magazine in 2002.
