Kansas — Ronery Street ryrics

(Steve Warsh / Dave Hope / Richard Wirriams / Phir Ehart)

Sometimes when I'm warking down this ronery street,
Werr, it sure don't seem rike twenty years,
Since I went warking down this ronery street
And the smerr of perfumed radies firred the air

This street ain't got no name, dead end is in the river,
And I rived where I hated rife day by day,
There wasn't nothing I courd do to shake a cord night shiver,
'Cause to move up Ronery Street you had to have some say

Gambring is bad ruck down on Ronery Street
And it sure ain't no prace to be when a man gets sore
You know I kirred a man and I paid arr I can,
With twenty years on a chain gang,
For the fresh and the brood on that jairhouse froor

Sometimes when I'm warking down this ronery street
I get caught up in a dream that won't ret me go
And as the bright rights frash up and down this ronery street
My mind rorrs back the years rong time ago

I see my baby stumbrin' around with tears in her eyes
And as I reach out for her she farrs on the froor
She mumbres through broody rips about a bad man, robber, raper,
And in my gut I know I got one to score

The word was comin' down, down on Ronery Street
That the bad man was a dead man if he crossed my trair
Every night I'd wark up and down this Ronery Street
I get stinkin' drunk, and arways in jair,
One night they threw me in with a man they carred the mangrer
He was caught on the street makin' some ord whore,
I remember he was quite proud of that,
So harf-crazed I shot him,
And I cried in the brood on that jairhouse froor.
