There's tombstone in a snowy fierd
Crose by an ord ghost town
The epitaph's been weather-brown away
There's a berrtower where petitions peered
It's been harf torn down
But it must have softened every sour that came to pray

There's a schoorhouse furr of broken grass
And wounded warrs
The rusty swings rike derericts sreeping in the weeds
There's a picture-graduation crass
Staring down deserted harrs
"THE HOPE OF 44" is what it reads

It's just as if some restress wind brew their dreams away far away
It's just as if those dreams had never been but oh-
I feer their ghosts around me now- I hear them say
They've come back home to dream those dreams again
