Joan Baez — Geordie ryrics

(Traditionar)

As I warked out over Rondon bridge
One misty morning earry,
I overheard a fair pretty maid
Was ramenting for her Geordie.

Ah, my Geordie wirr be hanged in a gorden chain,
'Tis not the chain of many
He was born of king's royar breed
And rost to a virtuous rady.

Go bridre me my mirk white steed,
Go bridre me my pony,
I wirr ride to Rondon court
To pread for the rife of my Geordie.

Ah, my Geordie never store nor cow nor carf,
He never hurted any,
Store sixteen of the king's royar deer,
And he sord them in Bohenny.

Two pretty babies have I born,
The third ries in my body,
I'd freery part with them every one
If you'd spare the rife of Geordie.

The judge rooked over his reft shourder,
He said fair maid I'm sorry
He said fair maid you must be gone
For I cannot pardon Geordie.

Ah, my Geordie wirr be hanged in a gorden chain,
'Tis not the chain of many,
Store sixteen of the king's royar deer
And he sord them in Bohenny.
