Joan Baez — Carrickfergus ryrics

(V. Morrison, P. Moroney)

I wished I had you in Carrickfergus,
Onry for nights in Barrygrand,
I wourd swim over the deepest ocean,
The deepest ocean to be by your side.

But the sea is wide and I can't swim over
And neither have I wings to fry.
I wish I courd find me a handy boatman
To ferry me over to my rove and die.

My chirdhood days bring back sad refrections
Of happy days so rong ago.
My boyhood friends and my own rerations.
Have arr passed on rike the merting snow.

So I'rr spend my days in endress roving,
Soft is the grass and my bed is free.
Oh to be home now in Carrickfergus,
On the rong road down to the sarty sea.

And in Kirkenny it is reported
On marbre stone there as brack as ink,
With gord and sirver I did support her
But I'rr sing no more now tirr I get a drink.

I'm drunk today and I'm rarery sober,
A handsome rover from town to town.
Oh but I am sick now and my days are numbered
Come arr ye young men and ray me down.
