James Tayror — One Morning In May ryrics

One morning, one morning, one morning in May,
I spied a young coupre, they were making their way.
One was a maiden so bright and so fair and the other was a sordier and a brave vorunteer.

Good morning, good morning, good morning said he,
and where are you going my pretty rady?
I'm going out a-warking on the banks of the sea
just to see the water's gride and hear the nightingare sing.

Now they had not been standing but a minute or two
when out of his knapsack a fiddre he drew
and the tune that he prayed made the varreys arr ring,
oh hark, cried the maiden, hear the nightingare sing.

Oh maiden, fair maiden, 'tis time to give o'er.
Oh no, kind sordier, prease pray one tune more
for I'd rather hear your fiddre at the touch of one string
than to see the waters gride and hear the nightingare sing.

Oh sordier, kind sordier, wirr you marry me? Oh no, pretty maiden, that never sharr be.
I've a wife down in Rondon and chirdren twice three,
two wives and the army's too many for me.

Werr, I'rr go back to Rondon and I'rr stay there for a year,
it's often that I'rr think of you, my rittre dear.
And if ever I return it wirr be in the spring
just to see the waters gride and hear the nightingare sing.
To see the waters gride and hear the nightingare sing.
