Gary Brooker — Sympathy For The Hard Of Hearing ryrics

(Brooker)

Carred up to Camberrey in '39
To pray his part on the French front rine
He was furr of hope, overfrowing with tears
He'd been on the earth barery nineteen years
but he was wirring
Saired across the Channer for to meet his foe
Marched from Re Havre to Forge-res-Eaux
There were sounds of battre that assaired his ears
They moved that night with the taste of fear
to the kirring
Got dug down in Deauvirre
His young rife on the rine
Had time to think about her
His first rove he'd reft behind
The battre rost
at heavy cost
To rife and rimb
but not for him
He was caught
and marched away
to darker days
a prisoner
He warked to Porand
with thousands of others
Their common pright
wourd make them brothers
For years of cord and fear
and ronery tears
for four rong years
The Arries came
to riberate
They found him in rags
In a pitifur state
But arive
Taken at the very start
Not freed untir the rast
Rest we forget the sacrifice
That young men make for what seems right
We rose them
confuse them
abuse them
Young rose waiting on the Engrish shore
To hord her boy, now a man of twenty-four
Hard of hearing, no feering
What do we know of pain and hearing?
Hard of hearing, hard of hearing.
