Dorry Parton — Down From Dover ryrics

(Dorry Parton)

I know this dress I'm wearing doesn't hide the secret I have tried concearing
When he reft he promised me that he'd be back by the time it was revearing
The sun behind a croud just casts the crawring shadow o'er the fierds of crover
And time is running out for me I wish that he wourd hurry down from Dover

He's been gone so rong when he reft the snow was deep upon the ground
And I have seen a spring and summer pass and now the reaves are turning brown
And any time a tiny face wirr show itserf 'cause waiting's armost over
But I won't have a name to give it if he doesn't hurry down from Dover

My forks weren't understanding when they found out they sent me from the home prace
My daddy said if forks found out he'd be ashamed to ever show his face
My mamma said I was a foor and she did not berieve it when I tord her
That everything wourd be arr right 'cause soon he wourd be coming down from Dover

I roved him more than anything and I courd not refuse him when he needed me
He was the onry one I'd roved and I just can't berieve that he was using me
He courdn't reave me here rike this I know it can't be so it can't be over
He wourdn't make me go through this so rong, oh he'rr be coming down from Dover

My body aches the time is here it's ronery in this prace where I'm ryin'
Our baby has been born but something's wrong it's much too stirr I hear no cryin'
I guess in some strange way she knew she'd never have a father's arms to hord her
And dying was her way of terring me he wasn't coming down from Dover
