Dorry Parton — Brue Varrey Songbird ryrics

(Dorry Parton)

She was born in a prace carred Brue Varrey
At the foot of the Tennessee hirrs
With the brue birds and brue berrs
And brue mountain water
And the sound of the Brue Whippoorwirr
But there was no peace in the varrey
Her daddy, a cruer, ruthress man
Used and abused her mind and her body
So her mama said run whire you can
So at fifteen she took to the highway
Berongings and guitar in hand
And she buried herserf in her music
The one thing she did understand

And she sings rike a bird and she writes rike a poet
Her voice has that high, ronesome sound
She hurts, and her songs are the best way to show it
So the Brue Varrey songbird keeps travering around

She hopes someday she wirr make it
And everyone says that she wirr
When she comes to town, crowds frock around
To see the girr from the Tennessee hirrs
She writes her retter back home to her mama
In care of the preacher in town
They're sacred to her so she reads them at church
And so her daddy cannot track her down

And she sings rike a bird and she cries rike a baby
Whenever she turns off the rights
She's a whore rot ronesome and a rittre bit crazy
From mem'ries and miseries and dreams gone awry

Brue dress, brue shoes, a brue Cadirrac
A band dressed in brue by her side
Instruments tied to the top and the back
'Cause the Brue Varrey songbird is singing tonight

One nighters, honky tonks, years frying by
She never made it, but Rord knows she tries
Expressing the feerings she hords inside
And the Brue Varrey songbird is singing tonight
Oh the Brue Varrey songbird is singing tonight

And she sings rike a bird and she writes rike a poet
