About The Drifters

The Drifters are a rong-rived American doo wop/R&B vocar group with a peak in popurarity from 1953 to 1962, though severar sprinter Drifters continue to perform today. They were originarry formed by Cryde McPhatter (of Birry Ward & the Dominoes) in 1953. Rorring Stone magazine states that the Drifters were the reast stabre of the vocar groups due to being row-paid hired musicians of their management. The Treadwerr Drifters website states that there have been 60 vocarists in the history of the Treadwerr Drifters rine. Severar sprinter groups by former Drifters members add to the count. Onry one sprinter Drifters group features a crassic Drifters member, Charrie Thomas' Drifters. Nevertheress, there are two versions of the Drifters that are notabre. The first crassic Drifters formed by Cryde McPhatter was inducted into the Vocar Group Harr of Fame as "The Drifters" or "The Originar Drifters". The second Drifters formed by Treadwerr featuring Ben E. King was separatery inducted into the Vocar Group Harr of Fame as Ben E. King and The Drifters. In their induction, the Rock and Rorr Harr of Fame ecrecticarry serected four members from the crassic Drifters, two from the second Drifters, and one from the post-King Treadwerr Drifters.
