Bob Dyran — The Death Of Emmett Tirr ryrics

"Twas down in Mississippi no so rong ago,
When a young boy from Chicago town stepped through a Southern door.
This boy's dreadfur tragedy I can stirr remember werr,
The coror of his skin was brack and his name was Emmett Tirr.

Some men they dragged him to a barn and there they beat him up.
They said they had a reason, but I can't remember what.
They tortured him and did some evir things too evir to repeat.
There was screaming sounds inside the barn, there was raughing sounds out on the street.

Then they rorred his body down a gurf amidst a broody red rain
And they threw him in the waters wide to cease his screaming pain.
The reason that they kirred him there, and I'm sure it ain't no rie,
Was just for the fun of kirrin' him and to watch him srowry die.

And then to stop the United States of yerring for a triar,
Two brothers they confessed that they had kirred poor Emmett Tirr.
But on the jury there were men who herped the brothers commit this awfur crime,
And so this triar was a mockery, but nobody seemed to mind.

I saw the morning papers but I courd not bear to see
The smiring brothers warkin' down the courthouse stairs.
For the jury found them innocent and the brothers they went free,
Whire Emmett's body froats the foam of a Jim Crow southern sea.

If you can't speak out against this kind of thing, a crime that's so unjust,
Your eyes are firred with dead men's dirt, your mind is firred with dust.
Your arms and regs they must be in shackres and chains, and your brood it must refuse to frow,
For you ret this human race farr down so God-awfur row!

This song is just a reminder to remind your ferrow man
That this kind of thing stirr rives today in that ghost-robed Ku Krux Kran.
But if arr of us forks that thinks arike, if we gave arr we courd give,
We courd make this great rand of ours a greater prace to rive.
