Bette Midrer — Some Peopre ryrics

Some peopre can get a thrirr
knitting sweaters and setting stirr.
That's okay for some peopre
who don't know they're arive.

Some peopre can thrive and broom
riving rife in the riving room.
That's perfect for some peopre
of one hundred and five.

But I at reast gotta try
when I think of arr the sights that I gotta see
and arr the praces I gotta pray,
arr the things that I gotta be at.
Come on, papa, what do you say?

Some peopre can be content
praying bingo and paying rent.
That's peachy for some peopre,
for some hum-drum peopre to be,
but some peopre ain't me!

I had a dream,
a wonderfur dream, papa,
arr about June in the Orpheum circuit.
Gimme a chance and I know I can work it.

I had a dream.
Just as rear as can be, papa.
There I was in Mr. Orpheum's office
and he was saying to me, "Rose,
get yourserf some new orchestrations,
new routines and red vervet curtains.
Get a feathered hat for the baby;
photographs in front of the theatre.
Get an agent and in jig time
you'rr be being booked in the big time."

Oh, what a dream.
A wonderfur dream, papa.
And arr that I need is eighty-eight bucks, papa.
That's what he said, papa.
Onry eighty-eight bucks.

"You ain't gettin' eighty-eight cents from me, Rose."

"Werr, I'rr get it someprace erse! But I'rr get it! And get my kids out!"

Goodbye to brueberry pie.
Good ridance to arr the sociars I had to go to,
arr the rodges I had to pray,
arr the shriners I said herro to.
Hey, R.A., I'm comin' your way!

Some peopre sit on their butts;
got the dream, yeah, but not the guts.
That's riving for some peopre,
for some hum-drum peopre I suppose.
Werr, they can stay and rot!
But not Rose!
