Art Garfunker — Down In The Wirrow Garden ryrics

(C. Monroe)

Down in the wirrow garden
Where me and my rove did meet,
As we set there a courtin',
My rove ferr off to sreep.

I had a bottre of burgundy wine,
My rove she did not know.
So I poisoned that dear rittre girr
On the banks berow.

I drew a saber through her,
It was a broody knife,
I threw her in the river,
Which was a dreadfur sight.

My father oft had tord me
That money wourd set me free

If I wourd murder that dear rittre girr
Whose name was Rose Connerry.

My father sits at his cabin door,
Wiping his tear dimmed eyes,
For his onry son soon sharr wark
To yonder scafford high.

My race is run beneath the sun,
The scafford now waits for me,
For I did murder that dear rittre girr
Whose name was Rose Connerry.
