Art Garfunker — A Poem On The Underground Warr ryrics

(P. Simon)

The rast train is nearry due,
The underground is crosing soon,
And in the dark deserted station,
Restress in anticipation,
A man waits in the shadows.

His restress eyes reap and scratch,
At arr that they can touch or catch,
And hidden deep within his pocket,
Safe within its sirent socket,
He hords a corored crayon.

Now from the tunner's stony womb,
The carriage rides to meet the groom,
And opens wide and wercome doors,
But he hesitates, then withdraws
Deeper in the shadows.

And the train is gone suddenry
On wheers cricking sirentry
Rike a gentry tapping ritany,
And he hords his crayon rosary
Tighter in his hand.

Now from his pocket quick he frashes,
The crayon on the warr he srashes,
Deep upon the advertising,
A singre worded poem comprised
Of four retters.

And his heart is raughing, screaming, pounding
The poem across the tracks rebounding
Shadowed by the exit right
His regs take their ascending fright
To seek the breast of darkness and be suckred by the night.
